Get a Drum and a Belly Dancer on your iPhone! What about a pair of finger cymbals too?! Tap on the Drum or the Finger Cymbals and the Belly Dancer will dance with the beat!

Our dancer is real and awesome! Go to http://www.meissoun.ch to know more about her and see her bio, photos, class infos and even request her to come dance in your next event!

This application comes with 10 different drum beats and 2 finger cymbal sounds. You can customize which area of the drum/cymbals play which sound using the preferences page.

Here is how the default configuration works: tap on the center of the Drum, and you will get the base (or "Doum") sound. The upper left corner of the drum will play a "Roll" and the three other corners will play 3 different "Tak" sounds giving you 5 different beats.

The 2 finger cymbals in the bottom will play 2 different sounds giving a nice rhythm when played consecutively.

Touch the dancer for random voice effects and the lips at the top of the screen for a zaghroota (ululation sound).

You can switch from the Tabla Drum to the Digital Pad Tabla using the preferences to have access to all beats at the same time.

The Tabla (also known as Arabic drum, darbukkah, darbouka or dumbak) is a single headed hand drum found in most Arab music ensembles.

For best sound quality, connect your iPhone/iPod touch to external speakers or headphones.

You can play your iPod music in the background while using this application and accompany the song!

Pros and cons of Tabla app for iPhone and iPad

Tabla app good for

Great instrument! Very slight latency with faster, more complex rhythms.
Very cute, well worth a dollar. The little dancer moves to your music and the Tabla & finger cymbals are fun to play with, sound better than Id thought for the price.
I love this app mostly for its simplicity and immediate entertainment value. Its just what the doctor ordered for filling those small gaps in your day between meetings, calls, or just when you need a fun diversion for a few moments. More of this, please!
No updates = poor rating. I cant imagine why any dev would let such a gem of an app sit like this it needs love and updates (and RECORD). Update: Id actually like to update and say that this app Is BEGGING for a record function so beats can be heard and shared. Surprising it was already plemented since it is such a universal function with thesentypes of apps.
I must say its a very good app give as some more roll 1 roll 2 roll 3 roll 4...? I love it its cool iam a bongo player so , i know it can be better....tak1 roll tak2 roll and tak3 roll....?
I like the Tabla ,but more things should be advanced into the Digital world I can help you guys do more touch ups if you like thanks Jihad Saleeby

Some bad moments

Sound level is way to soft, even with my Altec Lansing portable speaker. Please boost the levels!
Nice app---but-----does not sound anything like a Tabla. Sounds more like middle eastern percussion.
I wont say its a bad app but its definitely not for people who know what real Tabla is all about...no comparison to the real thing! Great for kids to tap away on ur new iPhone :-s
